Ostermoor & Company was founded in 1853 in a bustling Manhattan neighborhood known today as Nolita. At a time when mattresses were made with horsehair or straw, Ostermoor mattresses were “built not stuffed” by hand, meticulously designed with layers of innovative and comfortable materials that could stand the test of time. From the beginning, our company has emphasized technical and practical innovation, including order-by-mail, doorstep delivery, and a satisfaction guarantee—long before any of these offerings were en vogue.
