Meet Emilia Musacchia, part of the mother-daughters force behind Eveliina Vintage. Taking over the the business started by their mother in the 70s, Emilia and her twin sister Amanda have built a rare collection of vintage silk slip dresses, hand dyed sets, and other one of a kind pieces from the early 20th century. They've shown their collection at shows around the world from London to Los Angeles and everywhere in between. We caught up with Emilia to hear all about her role in Eveliina Vintage and perhaps her greatest role yet as a new mother to baby Kaj.

How did Eveliina Vintage come about?

My mom started the business in the 70s in Helsinki Finland. My sister and I have been around it our entire lives. It’s not something I ever thought I’d take over but I went out into the world and built other businesses up so I was like I might as well do it for her business!

What’s your favorite way to style the vintage slips and night gowns from Eveliina Vintage?

The best thing about a 1930’s slip is you can wear it from bed to the grocery store to dinner with just a change in shoes and add a sweater or a jacket!

What role does family play in shaping your creative vision?

My mom shaped my whole creative vision. She taught me everything I know about color (my passion). And my dad was always cooking (another passion of mine) so he taught me how to cook!

What’s been the most joyful part of motherhood so far? What’s been the most challenging?

The most joyful part has been the love. My heart has just burst right open. You really don’t know love until you have a child. The most challenging part has been savoring every minute because it goes soooo fast. I have 4 million tabs open in my head while also trying to just live in the moment and remember all of his newborn features because tomorrow they’ll change into something else.

Do you feel your sense of home or comfort has changed since becoming a mom?

I’ve really had to simplify things. My wardrobe is very easy and comfortable. My space has started to be more about comfort than anything. It really helps make this huge transition a bit easier. So comfort and quality over aesthetics.

What does comfort look like in your day-to-day life right now?

Contact naps are my safe place right now. Kaj is never going to need me more or find more comfort in me than right now and I’m soaking that up!

As a new mom, how do you balance the needs of your little one with the need to care for yourself?

Right now Kaj comes first so it’s not much of a balance. If he’s happy I’m happy and that’s honestly all the self care I need right now.

As new parents, Emilia and her husband were ready for an upgrade. They wanted something soft enough to support them on their sides, but supportive enough for lying on their stomach, which Emilia had missed doing while she was pregnant. The Bedford was the perfect fit for a supportive structure while providing a buoyant cushion.
